Event chronicle (1990-2015)
In 2015, the Orff Centre Munich celebrates its 25th anniversary. With this chronicle, the State Institute for Research and Documentation informs the public about its diverse tasks and activities as a composers' institute. In the quarter of a century since its foundation in 1990, a wealth of events, achievements and results has accumulated. In order not to inflate the volume unnecessarily, it was decided to summarise important and fundamental information in short texts and otherwise let the data and facts speak for themselves alone.
The chronicle is divided into three parts. The first part describes the founding history of the Orff Centre Munich and outlines its fields of activity. The chapters in the middle section are essentially based on the areas of responsibility mentioned in the "Ordinance Establishing the Orff Centre Munich" of 18 August 1988. However, it hardly needs to be emphasised that the fields of activity have differentiated, changed in their weighting and also increased in the course of time compared to the "Ordinance". Within the chapters, the facts are predominantly arranged in chronological order; continuous texts are used where individual data could no longer be presented in a comprehensible way due to their abundance or would otherwise remain incomprehensible to the reader. Finally, the third part contains a list of the names of all current and former staff members as well as information on the Institute's properties.
The work on the chronicle has not only made those involved aware of all that has been achieved in the past 25 years, but has also made it clear which areas of work should be given greater attention in the future. Thus, the activity report is at the same time an incentive to continue to meet the ever-changing demands on a composers' institute to the best of our ability.
