Publications

An important task of the Orff Centre Munich is the issuing of publications. In this way, the State Institute for Research and Documentation contributes to academic discourse and at the same time positions itself recognisably in the public sphere. Until 2002, several volumes were published by different publishing houses. In 2008, the newly founded series "Publications of the Orff Centre Munich" was launched by Schott Music. This series consists of two strands which, in addition to the Roman numeral in front of the relevant Arabic volume number, are also visually distinguished by the shades red (I) and blue (II). All volumes are in cloth and have a dust jacket. According to current planning, the primary texts (I) include writings and work texts by Carl Orff, correspondence with and source texts about Carl Orff, each with scholarly commentary. Secondary literature (II) includes monographs on the life and work of the composer, collections of essays and symposium reports. The aim is to present the comprehensive intellectual physiognomy of Carl Orff in as many facets as possible to the specialist public as well as to anyone interested, by means of thoroughly edited and annotated source texts as well as scientifically sound studies. The "Special Publications of the Orff Centre Munich" are publications that were printed on specific occasions (for example performances) and mostly in small editions. They will be included in the series in an expanded form at a later date. The editor of the series is the director of the Orff Centre Munich.
